BP-Azerbaijan could not comment on the causes of the explosion, which occurred at the site of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline passing through the territory of the Turkish province of Kars.
According to Oxu.Az, the statement came from BP-Azerbaijan spokeswoman Tamam Bayatli.
According to her, the operator of the pipeline is not BP-Azerbaijan, but Turkey's Botas.
"Neither Azerbaijan, nor BP Azerbaijan are the owners of the pipeline", she added.
In turn, the head of public relations and press service of SOCAR Nizamaddin Guliyev told APA that the explosion did not cause damage to Azerbaijan.
"The site is guarded by the Turkish side, by Botaş. We are in touch with Botaş.
Fortunately, due to maintenance work on schedule, since last night, that is 8-9 hours before the explosion on the gas pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurumm the gas supply to Turkey was suspended.
Therefore, the explosion did not cause damage to Azerbaijan. The cause of the explosion is being investigated. The information will be made public", Guliyev said.
