Onion pickled with sloe

Onion pickled with sloe an appetizer going well with any type of meals.
Pickled onions can be used as a side dish or added to sandwiches for extra punch. Made with vinegar and salt, pickled onion recipes can be tweaked to provide various flavorings.

Preparation time: 60 min
Cooking time: 30 min
Serves: 5-6

Ingredients
  • 500 g/1 lb 4 oz onion
  • 500 g/1 lb 4 oz sloe
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 5 pieces of clove
  • 5 pieces of black and sweet pepper
  • 50 g/2 oz salt
  • 400 g/1 lb vinegar
Preparation
  • Take small onion, peel and keep in cold salted water (50 g salt for 1 L water) for 2 days. Place spices on a jar bottom, put onions and then sloe berries. Pour on vinegar. Seal a jar tightly and keep in a cool place.
