Alycha jam
Have you ever wanted to make delicious, healthy, low-sugar, preservative-less, homemade jam that will make your family ecstatic and your friends envious?
Then just try out simple enough procedure using alychas picked right from your own trees, or fruit you buy from your local grocery store.

Preparation time: 60 min
Cooking time: 1 day
Serves: 7

Ingredients
  • 1 kg/2.2 lb skinned alycha
  • 1,1 kg/2.2 lb 1 oz sugar
  • 200 g/8 oz water
Preparation
  • Select large garden alycha variety especially local one as Arash or Istanbul. When ripening they gain red colour and one berry weighs about 40 gram. Skin alycha, soak in lime water for 1,5-2 hours, rinse throughly, needle in several spots, pour on syrup and keep for 6-8 hours. Boil 2-3 times with 8 hours intervals.
