Korean Film Festival makes stop in Gabala
The Korean Film Festival, which has been on tour in Azerbaijan from July 31, has reached its final destination in the country’s northern city Gabala.
The opening ceremony in Gabala was held on August 7 and city residents will have a chance to watch some 10 films, reflecting Korean history, geography, and traditions until August 15.
The films, produced between 2008 and 2013, were dubbed into the Azerbaijani language.
Korean Embassy secretary Cha Chang-soon, SEBA Association department head Irada Najafova, and, Ataya Osmanova, the deputy head of the Gabala City Executive Power attended the event, which was held at the city’s Culture Center.
Cha Chang-soon addressed the event, speaking about the national and spiritual values of both countries.
He stressed that in recent years, the relationship between Korea and Azerbaijan has been developing quite well.
The secretary noted that the films demonstrated at the festival will provide the Azerbaijani audience more information about Korea.
The event also informed the audience about the history, population, and economic potential of Gabala region.
The festival is open to the public and entrance is free.
So far, the films were presented in four Azerbaijani regions including Ganja, Lankaran, Sumgayit, and Agdash.
The event is jointly organized by Azerbaijan Culture Foundation SEBA (Seoul-Baku), Azerbaijan-Korean Cultural Exchange Association, and Korea Fund, with support from the Korean Embassy in Azerbaijan.
The First Korean Film Festival was held in Baku in 2005.
Azerbaijan and Korea have very close relations in many fields, including culture.
SEBA (Seoul-Baku) Azerbaijan-Korean Cultural Exchange Association Public Union, which seeks to realize large-scale cultural exchange projects between Azerbaijan and Korea, was established in 2004. So far, the organization has implemented several projects in the field of science, health, and culture.
