Days of Azerbaijani culture in Cannes coming to end

The “Days of Azerbaijani Culture,” organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the French city of Cannes from July 14 is coming to an end.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation told Trend on July 28 that as part of the culture days Azerbaijan, the foundation supported a mesmerizing concert of Azerbaijani folk songs, along with modern and ethno-jazz music.
Azerbaijan also launched an innovative fireworks display at the festival’s "The Art of Fireworks" contest, displayed an exhibition titled "Azerbaijani carpets in art," and placed the symbols of the Baku-2015 First European Games – Nar and Gazelle – along the Boulevard de la Croisette.
Local residents and tourists in Cannes experienced unforgettable moments thanks to the ancient and unexplored culture of Azerbaijan.
The Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Cannes will come to an end on July 31 with the end of the "Azerbaijani carpets in the art" exhibit.
Azerbaijan is a leading country in the world for its carpet art. In 2010, the traditional art of Azerbaijani carpets was entered into the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
Historically, Azerbaijani carpets have been popular worldwide. The rich historical contribution to the development of the national carpet made by the carpet schools of Ganja, Karabakh, Guba, Shirvan, Absheron, Gazakh, and Tabriz, have left Azerbaijan with a profound history in carpet weaving.
Currently, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the government are working together to document Azerbaijani carpet-weaving traditions, which are now going through a new stage of development.
An integral part of this process has been the publication of the "Azerbaijani carpets" collection by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2011. The book narrates the story of Azerbaijani carpet art and showcases projects aimed at promoting Azerbaijani carpet weaving throughout the world.
Notably, Azerbaijani carpets are on display in many popular museums and exhibition halls around the world.
The "Azerbaijan carpets in art" exhibit is open to the Cannes public from July 16 until the end of the month.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation oversees several projects in various countries that present Azerbaijan’s rich history and culture to the world. The Foundation, which usually conducts a series of activities in the regions of France, has been sponsoring the Azerbaijani Culture in Cannes for the past three years. Every year so far, thousands of tourists flock to Cannes to take part in the event.
This year's show was distinguished by its originality and became a true celebration of Azerbaijan for the residents of Cannes and tourists from all over the world.
