Suruç tension leads to violence in Tarsus, 11 injured

A group of rioters who were gathered in the Tarsus district of the province of Mersinto protest Monday's suicide bomb attack in Suruç which killed 32 activists and injured more than 100, opened fire early on Thursday morning on the riot police who intervened in the protest. The firefight injured 11 people, six of them police officers.

The demonstrators, who wore masks, caused unrest to spread to six different streets in Tarsus, the Doğan news agency reported. The demonstrators threw stones, Molotov cocktails and fireworks at police officers, and also used firearms.
