Russian government discusses agreement with Azerbaijan

According to the website of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Russian government approved the submitting of a draft law to the State Duma on ratification of the agreement between the governments of Russia and Azerbaijan on promotion and mutual protection of investments, Oxu.Az reports with reference to RIA Novosti.

Agreement between the Governments of Russia and Azerbaijan on promotion and mutual protection of investments was signed on September 29, 2014 in Astrakhan.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers pointed out that the current economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan does not fully address the issues of protection of mutual investments and settlement of investment disputes.

Ratification of the agreement will create the necessary legal framework in the field of protection of mutual investments and settlement of investment disputes.

The entry into force of the agreement will provide the Russian and Azerbaijani investors to long-term stability and predictability of the legal environment, will boost investment, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, according to the government.
