General tax declaration may be aplied
Azerbaijan is willing to proceed to a system of general tax declaring, said Alakbar Mammadov – advisor to the Minister of Taxes on international relations, taxpayers services and training – at a meeting devoted to the role of the social partners in the implementation of the tax liabilities on July 28.
Mammadov noted that the Ministry has studied international experience in this field quite well and is ready to adopt best practices in Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan has all the needed resources, infrastructure, and innovative technologies to proceed to a general tax declaration. But, it is very important to develop and raise the tax culture of population, providing increase of the voluntary payments," said Mammadov.
The advisor stressed the importance of voluntary tax payments for the 4.5 million economically-active people living in the country.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of the people, who are evading taxes and the Ministry isn't interested in taking tax evaders to court, Mammadov highlighted.
He also added that the Ministry takes a range of measures to provide payments to the state from tax evaders.
A payment in the amount of 29.1 million manats for 508 cases of tax evasion was provided to the state budget for the first half of current year.
Mammadov invited the social organizations, NGO's, and the business community to support the idea of creating a general tax declaring system in Azerbaijan.
Earlier, he noted that the Ministry plans to expand the number of e-services to improve tax administration.
Currently, the Ministry provides 59 types of e-services and plans to increase this number to 62, Mammadov said.
Azerbaijan ranks among the top 12 countries leading the world on the successful implementation of electronic systems for taxpayer registration, according to the World Bank.
