Azerbaijan’s population increases


The population of Azerbaijan has increased by about 43,300 people or about 0.5 percent reaching 9,636,300 people since early 2015, according to the State Statistics Committee.
Population density is at 111 people per a square kilometer. The ratio of men to women is 1,000 to 1,009

Official figures also suggest that 53.1 percent of the population lives in towns, while 46.9 percent in villages.

A total of 23,800 deaths were reported during this period.
Some 1,043 people have arrived in the country for permanent residence, while 355 people have left the country.
A total of 32,600 couples tied the knot since the beginning of the year.
From January to May, 66,400 children were born in the country, including 1,156 twins and 33 triplets.
On average 440 children were born every day in the country. Some 53.6 percent of them were boys and 46.4 percent, girls.
