Baku Branch of Moscow State University hosts graduation ceremony
The Baku branch of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov held an official graduation ceremony of 2015 on July 16.
The gala evening was attended by Russian Ambassador to Baku Vladimir Dorokhin, Director at the Baku Branch of Moscow State University, Professor Yuri Sadovnichy, Head of the Scientific Center on Azerbaijan and Caucasus named after Nizami Ganjavi under the Oxford University, Robert Hoyland, as well as leading professors of Moscow State University and its Baku Branch.
Rector of the Baku branch of Moscow State Lomonosov University and Doctor of Philology, Professor Nargiz Pashayeva addressed the event.
Congratulating the graduates, Pashayeva said: “I believe that the time of being a student is the best time of the whole life”.
Pashayeva wished all the graduates the greatest achievements in life, to become brilliant experts in their fields – chemistry, mathematics, philology and psychology.
She expressed gratitude to the professors of Moscow State University and thanked the staff of the Baku Branch.
Following, the awarding ceremony was held.
Dmitry Georgiyevskiy, the head of the department on work with foreign students of Moscow State University, congratulated the graduates on behalf of the Rector of the Moscow State University, academician Viktor Sadovnichy.
He congratulated the Baku Branch with another bright class of graduates, and wished success to young professionals on their path of life.
Vladimir Dorokhin, in turn, said the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are expressed not only in the volume of trade, not only in the military-politic al programs, international consultations, humanitarian actions, but also in the transferring and receiving knowledge – the most valuable thing for mankind.
For his part, Yuri Sadovnichy assessed the graduation ceremony day of 2015 as symbolic, as it stands between the two competitions – one of which is the first European Games, and the other is the International Chemistry Olympiad.
The first-ever European Games was held in Baku on June 12-28, hosting more than 6,000 athletes from 50 European countries who competed in 20 sporting events.
The Baku Branch of the Moscow State University will host the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad this July. The event is expected to gather 300 pupils and 250 observers, group leaders from 80 countries.
